Life at Shaker Road School

A Unique Community – Rich with Traditions

PARENT TESTIMONIALS

“SRS gave them the confidence to try new activities…because their time at SRS demonstrated that trying different things can be a very positive experience. Most importantly, SRS allowed them both to have a strong sense of self going into high school, along with a belief in demonstrating respect for all of their peers, regardless of how close or distant they were in their relationships to others.”

Maryellen and Craig R., Alumni Parents

“SRS has made it possible for us to be a full time working family and have our children thrive in a full school experience. The flexible hours and on-campus experiences combined with the great education and loving teachers it has been well beyond what we could have imagined. Shaker is a place that our children love to be and as parents we know when we drop them off they are safe and happy.

Tracey P., Current and Alumni Parent

“SRS does not just provide excellent academics, but a strong sense of community, as well. SRS is a family, so much so, that my two graduates have come back as camp counselors during summer camp. Another amazing strength of Shaker is all the opportunities and field trips offered outside of, or in support of, academics. Some of my kids’ greatest memories are the trips to D.C., AMC, leadership, etc. “

LAST CALL FOR SPONSORS!

The first annual SRS Blue Heron Trifest is taking place on Sunday, September 8, for Kindergarten through Eighth Grade students. All proceeds benefit the Robert S. Hicks Scholarship Fund, which strives to financially support families by making a Shaker Road School education more affordable. We are looking for a few more sponsors! Please contact the Main Office if you are interested: 603-224-0161. We need to hear from you TODAY, Monday, August 26!

This event is designed to be a fun, back-to-school, community event—there are no timing chips, awards, medals or spots on any podium—the goal is to get out, have fun, and perhaps “tri” something new!

Counselor/Camper Soaking: Part 2

The final day of Olympics Week at Camp Shaker is a favorite and involves a camp-wide Fox and Hounds game. Counselors get a head start to go and hide in approved areas across the campus and soon after camper groups set out to find them. Afterwards, all the found counselors get pushed into the pool by the campers who found them for points that get figured into the team scores. Then, for fun, all the counselors picked a camper to push in.

Best Day Ever! Making Memories on Snow Days at SRS

Not all “snow days” are created equal. Public-school memories of snow days include an eager anticipation that began the night or even days before. How much snow will we get, and will it be enough for the superintendent to call off school? In the 70s and 80s, school...

2022 Scholastic Art Award Winners

Every fall, our Seventh and Eighth Grade students are invited to submit artwork to The Scholastic Art Awards of New Hampshire (SAANH). Approximately 2,500 works were submitted this year from across the state in 17 categories ranging from drawing and painting to...

The Power of Nature

“If you have ever gone to the woods with me, I must love you very much.”~ Mary Oliver  When poet Mary Oliver describes her reasons for walking alone in the woods in "How I Go to the Woods," I understand. Few places are as calming and centering as nature—and meandering...

Fall Music Recital

The music department has been in full swing this fall! We are so excited to have returned to in-person private lessons and group ensembles. We currently have over 100 students taking music lessons with six teachers, who offer lessons on flute, clarinet, saxophone,...

The Return of Traditions

Late last week as I helped Student Government prepare for the annual Middle School Halloween dance, I paused and realized October was nearly over. Compared to last year, this is a positive change. The school year has returned to its typical active flow. Since opening...
