The mission of the Scholastic Art Awards is to foster creativity in students from seventh through twelfth grades nationally. In New Hampshire, approximately 2500 works are submitted and out of these around forty percent received some recognition with either a Gold Key, a Silver Key, or Honorable Mention. Only a handful of eighth graders are recognized each year. Jurors look for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values: originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
We are thrilled to share that two Eighth Grade students received recognition for their work. Ben L. received a Gold Key for his photograph ‘Lights at Pike Place Market’ and an Honorable Mention for his photograph ‘Friend in Fall’.

Eighth Grade student Ariana D. received a Silver Key for her drawing ‘The heart can forgive; but never forget.’

While two additional students did not receive an award this year, we would like to recognize them for their dedication to art and the quality of work they submitted: Ellie K. for her outstanding perspective drawing and photograph and Curtis C. for entering four wonderful photos.

It was also exciting to see SRS alumni receive awards for the art they created this year as high school students. Maggie S. (SRS ’22) received a Silver Key and three Honorable Mentions. Avery S. (SRS ’21) received a Silver Key and Honorable Mention. Chloe S. (SRS ’23) received a Silver Key and Honorable Mention.
We are so proud! Please join me in congratulating these passionate, young artists!
