Summer Session
Exceptional Summer Experiences
The Shaker Road School Summer Session mirrors many of the same qualities as our standard school program—it’s hands-on, jam-packed with adventure, and offers a wide variety of activities.
We invite campers of all ages—from three to fifteen—onto our campus for 10 weeks to pursue their interests and discover new ones. Our small groups and experienced staff—many of whom teach full-time at SRS—provide individual attention and support to each child throughout the summer. Our main summer program (originally called Camp Shaker) was founded in 1980 and has offered everything from athletics, swimming, and golf lessons to arts and crafts, drama, music, and technology. You can sign up for 1 week, or all 10. Regardless of how many weeks your camper spends with us, we guarantee that a summer at SRS Summer Session will be a memorable one.
Classic Camp
Soon after the final school bell sounds in June, SRS comes alive with the sights and sounds of summer when campers enthusiastically flood our campus with dreams of the perfect summer. Red Cross certified swim instructors teach daily lessons, experienced camp counselors plan exciting activities, and theme weeks liven up the camp atmosphere. In 10 short weeks, campers are treated to a summer full of activities and memories.
Our low camper to counselor ratio ensures that each camper’s needs are met. Our camp staff is comprised of former campers, teachers, and assistant teachers who have been with us for many years. In addition to the counselors, we have a program for counselors in training (CITs). These young people are students entering tenth grade who volunteer their time to learn leadership skills and the responsibilities of becoming a counselor.
SRS offers a wide variety of daily activities including athletics, swimming and golf lessons, arts and crafts, drama, music, nature study, video games, camping, media center, canoeing and kayaking, and others. The Camp Store serves snacks and lunch. There are many traditions that have developed since 1980, including annual trips to Grammy and Grandpa’s Camp (the SRS cottage on Lake Winnisquam), Camp Olympics, kayaking on the Merrimack, off campus day-long field trips, and the popular Camper vs. Counselor athletics week.
