Advisory Board

The Advisory Board (AB) was established before the school’s first NEAS&C accreditation in 2003. The membership and effectiveness of the board has varied over the years and now the AB is currently in excellent shape. The AB’s bylaws outline its membership, including current and past parents, alumni, a Shaker Road School Parent Teacher Group liaison, a faculty liaison, and a public member not related (or loosely related) to the school. Together, this talented group offers diverse perspectives from various industries including business, education, law, ministry, and personal SRS experience as a student or parent.

The AB meets quarterly with school leaders and guest presenters, periodically including students, to learn more about school operations, opportunities, and challenges. During the past two years, the AB conducted a comprehensive listening campaign to better understand each area and department of the school. The Board Chair is in regular communication with Dr. Matt, who acts as the direct liaison to the faculty, staff, and administration. From their meetings, they establish initiatives for the board and the school.

Recent work has included 360-degree evaluations of school administrators, a focus on school health and safety, an in-depth look at human resources, board development and growth, and gaining an increased understanding of school culture.
