Water Testing

Water Testing Report

March 19, 2025

Dear Families,

Attached please find a letter from Sarah Draper, our Public Water System Operator at Second Wind Water Systems, detailing the results of a recent round of water testing.

Actionable levels of lead were present in two of thirteen sample sites, along with two other sites showing levels approaching actionable but not requiring remediation. The actionable sites are in areas unused by students. The remaining nine sample locations showed concentrations well below the five parts-per-billion level requiring attention.

Remediation will be immediately undertaken by our campus plumbing contractor. On completion of that work, we will retest as needed to maintain compliance with parameters set forth in the State of New Hampshire Get the Lead Out program.

Of note, this was the third of three required tests, and no actionable levels appeared in prior test samples. Lead levels were likely higher this time because of a sampling error: sites must be unused for a minimum of eight hours before sampling, but these two locations had rested for closer to thirty-six hours, resulting in lead concentrations not noted earlier. Water sources available to students, such as bath and classroom sinks and bottle fillers, are in regular use throughout the day, preventing this increase in lead concentration.

Our first job at the Shaker Road School is to provide a safe, healthy environment for our students and staff. We appreciate your trust in us and will continue to do our very best to meet that goal every day.
