What I love about SRS: I enjoy the flexibility I am allowed within the classroom to teach using a variety of methods and materials. The small class sizes allow for better connections with the students, both academically and emotionally. I am always impressed by how capable our students are and how far they can progress throughout their time with us.

Favorite SRS Tradition: 8th grade graduation…It is a semi-formal, emotional event to celebrate the students’ success and closure of one chapter of their lives, many of whom have been at Shaker since they were very young.

Favorite SRS Tradition: The Halloween Jack-o-Lantern Hayride is a great community event. I love seeing the artfully carved pumpkins placed along the cross-country trail. To see them all aglow and listen to children and parents enjoy their evening ride exemplifies the best of the SRS community.

What I love about SRS: I have been a part of Shaker Road School since its inception. When Doug and Patti started the school, they chose “loving, learning, and caring” as the motto.  What I love about SRS: SRS is true to its mission of challenging and supporting students academically and socially. Shaker students do not simply go through the motions, but are challenged to be more and do more.

Favorite SRS Tradition: My new favorite tradition is KickBack each spring. I love the community rallying behind a local organization to raise much needed funds while playing the school’s most popular sport: soccer. This event epitomizes Shaker’s unique balance between having students contribute to the larger world yet recognizing they are still children and bringing the entire community together.

What I love about SRS: The school is my home away from home. The students, families, and my colleagues are like an extension of my own family. I am fortunate to work with an energetic team of teachers who love what they do and strive to provide the best education for all students.

Favorite SRS Tradition: Spring Fling is my favorite SRS tradition. It’s one of our oldest traditions and one I remember participating in when I was a young child. Now my family and I get to watch my daughter participate in this same tradition.

What I strive to teach students: Working with Infants, I strive to create a loving, nurturing and educational atmosphere in my classroom. I love exposing children to new tactile experiences as well various sensory activities to help them learn about the world around them. I encourage all students to reach their individual developmental milestones in a safe environment, where they are free to explore!

What I love about SRS: I love that this school is all inclusive! Having children of my own, it gives me piece of mind that they not only get a great education, but they are able to participate in multiple activities before and after school, ranging from sports to drama and music lessons. What I strive to teach students: I strive to teach students that being wrong and facing struggle is an imperative part of the learning process. Problem solvers don’t get any practice without problems!

What I love about SRS: I love the sense of community that is inevitable when playing a teacher role here. I get to know my students and their families, both in and out of the classroom.

Favorite SRS Tradition: 8th Grade Graduation: a classy evening that honors the time our students have spent with us and all of their accomplishments.

What do you strive to teach your students? I’m not in the classroom, but I believe that instilling and reinforcing respect in our community is as much a function of my job as any of the day-to-day work that I do on campus.

School Activities: Safety Committee, Sustainability Program, support of all campus sport and recreational activities through grounds maintenance, Pumpkin Hayride driver

Personal Interests: Spending time with family, Live Music, Hard Work, The Wild Outdoors, Trout Fishing

What I love about SRS: Though the school has grown and evolved in the twenty-one years that I’ve been here, much of the small school, family-oriented feeling has been retained; I love that sense of continuity that continues to be a strong part of the Shaker Road community.

Favorite SRS Tradition: The Pumpkin Hayride has to be my favorite campus tradition; the whole school comes together and works hard to put together a truly enjoyable evening. It really starts the Fall season for me and is the lead-in to the fun that follows.

What I strive to teach students: I believe it is important for students to be involved in extracurricular activities and take risks trying new things. I hope to teach students the value of being involved in their community no matter their level of experience with an activity. It is always exciting to watch our more experienced players mentor newer players in a competitive environment.

Favorite SRS Tradition: I love the SRS community. It is truly hard to explain how strong the community is until you are part of it and see for yourself. I love that there are several events to bring the entire community together, but in addition to those, our students get so excited to work with each other across all ages. Whether it be reading buddies, a project, or just a visit on the playground.

What I strive to teach students: I very much enjoy watching my students “grow” and develop. Watching their little faces light up when they complete a task they have previously been unable to master is heart warming.

School Activities: Previously, CIT program, outdoor and indoor soccer coach, assisting with dance, participated in adult dance class, hosting exchange students, float coordinator for SRS entrance in Concord’s annual holiday parade, organized/coordinated SRS Craft Fair, PTG, Accreditation Visiting Committees

Personal Activities: I have two sons, 4 granddaughters, 21 chickens (love those fresh eggs), a Shepard/Lab and a little old cat, I enjoy crafts including knitting, crocheting and sewing. I love my flower gardens and have over 50 indoor/year round plants.

What I love about SRS: Shaker Road School is FAMILY.

Favorite SRS Tradition: I miss the old Carnival days and continue to enjoy Spring Fling and the annual Pumpkin Wagon ride.
